Espouse the promise of a virtual future today?
Maybe you do. Artificial intelligence (AI), which allows you to communicate with customers, is a way to embrace virtual technologies. Augmented reality (AR), which allows customers to be immersed in a shopping experience, is a way to combine virtual and physical worlds. This is what we refer to as “Real Virtualities.”
All of this is great. It Is explained all this in Business Futures 2021 – Signals of Change. Real Virtualities, which are technology advancements, will give organizations opportunities to improve products and services, and create more value their customers, employees, and other stakeholders. Real Virtualities, which combine AI, AR and virtual reality (VR), will open new markets. Real Virtualities can be applied correctly and will improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability within your company.
Exciting, yes? As a business strategist, what excites me most is the potential for Real Virtualities, which can be used to empower organizations to address the most pressing issues in the world. Imagine how virtual worlds will change our perceptions and our hearing, as well as our senses.
Health Care
Imagine doctors being able to virtually examine patients using ” electronic skin“, which is a way for them to attach a patch of material to their patients. This is what scientists at Tel Aviv University are studying. Experts might be able to detect diseases in patients living in communities far from traditional medical care, if they can commercialize their invention.
immersive microscopic allows doctors to fly through 3D microscopy datasets in virtual reality. This gives them a new level of insight into the human body. VR can be used therapeutically by doctors to improve the memory of elderly patients, reduce anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and relieve the pain of childbirth.
Education
Imagine immersive experiences that could enhance learning in classrooms. Immersing yourself in a language-speaking environment is the best way to learn it. Imagine if you could embed in China from the United States to learn Mandarin. This is what Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute students are doing. They interact with AI avatars set against computer-generated backgrounds of Chinese streets and markets. The avatars can recognize gestures, expressions, and speech. This immersion lab has proven to be twice as effective in teaching Mandarin than traditional classrooms.
Imagine being transported to the period that you are studying if you are a historian. As an engineer, you might imagine looking at 3D digital twins from distant buildings and bridges.
Leadership Development
Imagine if executives could interact with employees in multiple places at once. We may not be superhuman, but we can be more human. Eighty five percent of CEOs believe that investing in technology to improve the cognitive and physical performance their employees will make their company’s success possible. It was essential for 43% of respondents, which is the highest percentage of all the 25 Signals to business change that we tested. Google is working on Project Starline a videoconferencing platform that will give executives the feeling that they are in the same physical space with a business partner thousands miles away.
Real Virtualities can increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability within your company.
We Work plans to introduce holographic tech into its workplaces in a partnership with ARHT Media. This was done by We Work near the end of 2021. Yes, holograms.
What if we used the innovation of Zebra Technologies’ AR headsets – which enable computer technicians see what the user is looking at – to leadership training? Remote training can be personalized and taken to new heights.
Our reality today is that we are able to adapt and can use virtual technologies to help us achieve a better future. We don’t know what the future holds. We need to be agile, prepared, and, as Annette Rippert, my colleague, say, insitu futurists.
Here is the advice to help you realize the promise of our virtual tomorrow.
- With a focus on security and 5G, get your infrastructure in order. Real Virtualities requires fast, low-latency networks that can process large volumes of data messages quickly and with minimal delay.
- Your governance should be in order with clear communication and understanding of how AI, VR, and AR can be used responsibly. Protect your organization from unintended consequences and strengthen your decision-making.
- Your customers will be more satisfied if you identify their main challenges and create solutions they can use intuitively and easily. Real Virtualities are not meant to translate customers’ real-world experience into digital environments. They can be used to enrich customers’ real-world experiences, and to strengthen customer relationships.
What if you don’t act now? You can win or lose your way to a successful future.
